Teaching Artist Relief Grants

Overview: Relief grants funded by the New Jersey Arts & Culture Renewal Fund (NJACRF) of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, administered by Monmouth Arts as regranting agency for a third year.

Geographic Scope: Monmouth County, NJ

Award Details:

  • Total Funding: $20,000 in grants available

  • Grant Amount: $1,000 to $2,000 per grant

  • Funding Source: New Jersey Arts & Culture Renewal Fund (NJACRF) of the Princeton Area Community Foundation
  • Purpose: Assist Monmouth County teaching artists with living or career needs including:

  • Housing

  • Childcare

  • Groceries

  • Utilities
  • Eligible Disciplines: All arts disciplines including dance, music, folk art, theater, visual arts, film, poetry, literary arts, etc.

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a practicing teaching artist with experience relevant to art education

  • 21 years of age or older

  • Resident of Monmouth County

  • Working in the United States for the last two years

  • Not related to a Monmouth Arts Board or staff member

  • Able to provide a social security number

  • Able to demonstrate previous income from arts education
  • Priority Considerations: Priority given to teaching artists who:

  • Identify as BIPOC and/or serve BIPOC populations

  • Integrate resiliency, healing, and social-emotional learning in their work

  • Serve populations with less exposure to arts programming

  • Respond to timely and important issues through their arts programming

  • Serve vulnerable and underserved populations
  • Award Distribution: Awards based on demonstrated financial need, available funding, and equitable distribution relating to:

  • Racial/ethnic diversity

  • Geography

  • Arts disciplines
  • Equity & Inclusion: Monmouth Arts promotes equity and inclusion and encourages all eligible individuals to participate.

  • Review Process:
    1. Monmouth Arts staff reviews all applications for eligibility
    2. Grant panel reviews eligible applications
    3. Panel makes award recommendations
    4. Monmouth Arts Board of Trustees approves recommendations
