Overview

TEACH Early Childhood® Indiana Scholarship Program

Status: Active, ongoing since 1990 in Indiana (since 1998)

Geographic Scope: Indiana only

Overview: A unique scholarship program that links education, compensation, and commitment to improve the quality of early care and educational experiences for young children and families. Created in 1990 by Child Care Services Association, the program has spread to more than twenty states.

  • Addressing under-education, poor compensation, and high turnover in the early childhood workforce
  • Supporting educators pursuing credentials, certificates, and degrees
  • Enhancing program quality through trained, committed professionals

    Eligibility

    Applicants must:
  • Live and work in Indiana
  • Be a high school graduate or have obtained a GED
  • Be committed to the field of early childhood education
  • Work in one of these roles:
  • - Assistant teacher - Teacher - Early Head Start home visitor - Center director - Family childcare home owner - Family childcare home employee

Employment Requirements:

  • Full-time: Employed at least 30 hours per week in a licensed, registered, certified, or legally exempt early childhood center, family childcare home, registered ministry, or program within Indiana

  • Part-time: Employed at least 20 hours but no more than 29 hours per week in the same settings
  • CDA Assessment Scholarship for Career and Technical/Vocational Students:

  • Must be a high school senior currently taking dual credit towards an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Seeking to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential

  • Must agree to work at least six months in a licensed program upon graduation OR enroll in a 2- or 4-year Early Childhood degree
