Overview
Superior Genetics Award Program
Status: Active, established under ADGA Bylaws Article XX
Geographic Scope: United States (all ADGA members)
Focus Areas: Recognition of dairy goats with superior genetic merit based on Production/Type Index (PTI) rankings
- Both bucks and does qualify
- Animals must be registered with ADGA
- Must be in the top 15% (85th percentile ranking or higher) for their breed according to Production/Type Index at least once during the animal's life
Eligibility
- SG (Superior Genetics): Base award for qualifying animals - Requirements: PTI ranking in top 15% (85th percentile or higher); Production Type Index value of 0 or greater; ranking may be in one area (PTI 2:1 or PTI 1:2) or in both areas
Award Designations
- SGCH (Superior Grand Champion): Permanent designation combining SG and championship - Requirements: Must earn both SG designation AND earn a permanent championship (may be earned in separate years and in any order)
- Designation appears as prefix on registration papers, production pedigrees, and other ADGA documents
- Once awarded, the prefix becomes a permanent part of the animal's name
- Awards stored permanently by year in ADGA database alongside CH and GCH designations
- Notifications occur twice per year: after completion of yield evaluations and after completion of type evaluations
Award Presentation
- Certificate revision fee applies if requested within 90 days of owner notification: FREE
- Certificate revision fee if requested after 90 days of owner notification: Standard Revision to Certificate of Registration/Recordation fee (per current ADGA Schedule of Rates)
- Awards earned on basis of evaluations prior to 2006: Standard Revision to Certificate of Registration/Recordation fee applies

The Superior Genetics Award is automatically evaluated and applicants are notified by ADGA based on their animal's PTI rankings. No separate application required.
Steps
1. Ensure animal is registered with ADGA 2. Maintain production and type records through ADGA systems 3. Await notification from ADGA after yield or type evaluations are completed (twice yearly) 4. If eligible, submit certificate revision request within 90 days of notification for free revision, or pay standard revision fee if requesting after 90 days- Current registration certificate
- PTI ranking documentation (automatically maintained by ADGA based on production and type records)
