STRIVE Scholarship

Geographic Scope: District 6600 (Northern Ohio) - Eastern and Western halves

Overview: STRIVE stands for "Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education." This program works with high schools to motivate students to improve their school performance during their senior year. The program is student-driven and only facilitated by Rotarians.

Program Focus:
Designed to support students in:

  • Increasing their attendance and participation

  • Improving their grades and attitude

  • Fun, interactive activities involving every Rotarian in clubs
  • Award Structure:
    Annually, District 6600 awards scholarships to four students:

  • First Place (East): Two-year renewable $2,000 scholarship

  • First Place (West): Two-year renewable $2,000 scholarship

  • Second Place (East): One-year $1,000 scholarship

  • Second Place (West): One-year $1,000 scholarship
  • Eligibility:

  • High school seniors

  • Participants in STRIVE program

  • Sponsored by a Rotary Club

  • Program participants in District 6600
  • Key Details:

  • Interview process held during District Conference (historically in April)

  • Application deadline historically April 6 (varies by year)

  • Local Club STRIVE Committee Chairs submit Student Participant Roster

  • Certificates of appreciation provided to all students

    Application Process

    1. Club Participation:
    - Local Rotary Club participates in STRIVE program
    - Club STRIVE Committee Chair coordinates

    2. Student Application:
    - Download current year scholarship packet
    - Complete applications in their entirety
    - Submit to Local Club STRIVE Committee Chair
    - Deadline: Historically April 6 (specific dates vary by year)

    3. Club Submission:
    - Local Club STRIVE Committee Chair submits completed student applications
    - Submit via:
    - Fax: (440-775-1120)

    - US Mail: 13 S. Main St., Oberlin, OH 44074
    - Club also submits 2014-15 STRIVE Student Participant Roster by deadline

    4. Interview Process:
    - Interviews held on specific date during District Conference

    5. Award Presentation:
    - District Governor and PDG Cole present certificates of appreciation
    - Awards presented at each program's end of year celebration
