Overview

SOH provides grants to Oklahoma residents for residential wind and hail mitigation on new and existing, owner-occupied, primary residence single-family homes. The program requires homes to obtain an IBHS FORTIFIED Home – Roof™ – High Wind designation with the Hail Supplement. Funding comes from the insurance industry in Oklahoma, not from the state's general budget.

Eligibility:

  • Primary residence single-family homeowners in Oklahoma

  • Must have homestead exemption

  • Must have in-force homeowners insurance with wind coverage

  • Must have flood insurance if home is in special flood hazard area

  • Home must be in good repair

  • Cannot be apartment, duplex, condominium, manufactured home, or mobile home
  • Benefits:

  • Up to $10,000 in grant funding for roof upgrade to FORTIFIED standard

  • Potential discounts on wind insurance premium and deductible

  • Grant paid directly to contractor upon completion
  • Applicant Responsibilities:

  • Pay FORTIFIED evaluator fees (not covered by grant)

  • Cover any costs exceeding $10,000 grant amount
