Overview
SOH provides grants to Oklahoma residents for residential wind and hail mitigation on new and existing, owner-occupied, primary residence single-family homes. The program funds roof upgrades to the FORTIFIED Home™ – Roof™ – High Wind designation with the Hail Supplement standard. Funding comes from the insurance industry in Oklahoma, not state general budget.
Eligibility:
- Oklahoma primary residence owners (single-family homes only)
- Must have in-force homeowners insurance with wind coverage
- Must have flood insurance if home is in Special Flood Hazard Area
- Home must be in good repair
- Must obtain FORTIFIED Home evaluation and designation
- Cannot be apartments, duplexes, condominiums, manufactured homes, or mobile homes
Purpose: Wind and hail mitigation to strengthen homes against severe storms and reduce damage risk. May qualify homeowners for insurance premium and deductible discounts.
