Stine Healthcare Education Loan

Background: In 1992, the Dale Stine family made a $100,000 memorial gift to the Foundation for the purpose of physician recruitment and educational loans.

Purpose: The educational loan funds are for students who are pursuing their studies in a chosen medical field.

Geographic Scope: Valley County Health System service area (Nebraska)

Eligibility:

• Must be accepted into or currently enrolled in an accredited program of a recognized health career
• Students pursuing a degree in the medical field
• Special consideration: RN students who receive the Stine loan and return to work at VCHS for a minimum of two years may be eligible for loan forgiveness through VCHS

Selection Criteria: Recipients are selected by the Foundation Board based on:

• Needs in the Health System service area
• Financial need of the applicant
• Likelihood the applicant will be successful in completing their degree

Loan Terms:

• Interest-free repayment if recipient chooses to return and serve in the Valley County Health System service area
• Loan forgiveness option available for RN students who work at VCHS for minimum two years (see application for details)
