Steve's Foundation Grant Steve's Foundation is a small private foundation with limited resources (i.e., me with assistance from my family). Typical grants range between $500 and $5,000 with an average grant of $2,600. Total annual grants are approximately $100,000. Funding requests are evaluated once each year (in May or June). Although Steve's Foundation is small, it receives hundreds of funding requests each year. Due to the large number of requests, I am not able to reply to proposals, accept phone calls or respond to email inquiries—I hope you'll understand.

Grants are made on a selective basis using the following general guidelines.Organizations that improve opportunities for disadvantaged people under the premise that few are entitled to a handout, yet everyone is entitled to a hand up. Organizations that help people help themselves in the long term based on the premise that if you give someone a fish, they'll be fed today but if you teach someone to fish, they'll be fed for life. Organizations that focus on children in the belief that the earlier assistance is provided, the greater the effect the assistance will have. Cost-effective programs where a small contribution can make a significant difference. Organizations where a large percentage of funding goes directly to achieving these goals, rather than to fundraising or administrative expenses. Charitable, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations.Per those guidelines, the foundation focuses on small, cost-effective nonprofits that help disadvantaged people (e.g., women, children, people of color, chronically poor, etc) improve their lives.
