STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program

Description: A scholarship and mentorship program designed to break down barriers to entry into the actuarial profession for high school juniors and seniors from underserved backgrounds.

Geographic Scope: United States, with initial pilot launch in Chicago and Philadelphia

Focus Areas:

  • Support for high school students interested in actuarial science and STEM

  • Breaking down barriers for underserved students

  • Academic and career development in the actuarial profession
  • Program Structure:

  • Cohort-based model (pilot program consisted of 20 high school juniors and seniors)

  • Four student support groups:

  • - Corporate Advisory Council
    - Scholarship Mentors
    - University Partnerships
    - Applications Review

    What Students Receive:

  • Academic tutoring

  • Social rapport and mentoring

  • Career placement support

  • Peer encouragement

  • Access to Math Motivators Tutoring Program

  • Exposure to Modeling the Future Challenge competition

  • Internships and job shadowing opportunities
