Description: A scholarship and mentorship program designed to break down barriers to entry into the actuarial profession for high school juniors and seniors from underserved backgrounds.

Geographic Scope: United States, with initial pilot launch in Chicago and Philadelphia

Support for high school students interested in actuarial science and STEM

Breaking down barriers for underserved students

Academic and career development in the actuarial profession

Program Structure:

Cohort-based model (pilot program consisted of 20 high school juniors and seniors)

Four student support groups:

- Corporate Advisory Council
- Scholarship Mentors
- University Partnerships
- Applications Review

Academic tutoring

Social rapport and mentoring

Career placement support

Peer encouragement

Access to Math Motivators Tutoring Program

Exposure to Modeling the Future Challenge competition

Internships and job shadowing opportunities

Immersion experiences

Eligibility:

High school juniors and seniors

Priority for underserved students

Students from Title 1 schools

Students interested in actuarial science and STEM

Funding:

Initial pilot program sponsored by Society of Actuaries with $150,000 inaugural gift (2021)
