Overview

Note: Grants will be reviewed and awarded in three rounds, or until all funds are allocated—whichever comes first. Program Information BEAM Circular invites proposals for grants of $10,000 to $500,000 to support the development of wet labs and job training facilities in Stanislaus County. A total of up to $1.5 million will be awarded. This grant program is managed by BEAM Circular and supported by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding from Stanislaus County. Shared-use facilities that promote learning, innovation, entrepreneurship, and training are vital infrastructure for the county’s growing circular bioeconomy sector. The Stanislaus Wet Lab & Training Facilities Fund supports the purchase of equipment and development of facilities that provide local students and workers with industry-aligned job training opportunities. Projects must advance access to good jobs and career pathways in underserved communities, with a focus on expanding job training opportunities for target beneficiary populations identified by the American Rescue Plan Act (see section V). Funds may be used to build local capacity through: Workforce training and lab equipment for hands-on skill development; Incubator spaces for early-stage businesses that enable job training opportunities; or Community-accessible laboratory facilities that enable broader participation in science, technology, and innovation. Grant Focus This fund will offer grants to local training and educational institutions in Stanislaus County to invest in specialized equipment and facilities that support job training and workforce development in the circular bioeconomy sector. Investments should prepare the local workforce for jobs in bio-based manufacturing, chemical engineering, biotechnology, biomass processing, sustainable waste management, and/or other fields that support the development and production of bio-based products including chemicals, materials, fuels, and advanced food ingredients.
