The SPWLA Scholarships, awarded by the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts Foundation, support students pursuing studies related to formation evaluation. Established in 1985, the foundation provides financial assistance for tuition, books, and living expenses to undergraduate and graduate students. By fostering academic excellence in petrophysics and related disciplines, the foundation aims to empower future leaders in the field. Contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible, enhancing its ability to assist deserving candidates.

SPWLA Foundation was formed in 1985 as The Society of Professional Well Log Analysts Educational Fund for the exclusive purpose of issuing scholarships and grants for the study at schools, universities, and colleges engaged in the teaching and study of the science of formation evaluation. The Foundation was later renamed The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts Foundation to address the increasing role that rock and fluid analysis plays in the science of formation evaluation. The Foundation was set up as a 501(c) (3) organization and is funded by the SPWLA, companies and individuals to support the overall purposes of the SPWLA. All contributions to the Foundation are fully tax-deductible according to the United States Internal Revenue Service.
The Foundation establishes and maintains the financial endowments of the Society and awards scholarships and grants from those endowments for related study at universities and other educational institutions.
The intent of the SPWLA Foundation is to support the hopes, aspirations, ambitions and financial needs of students and faculty in courses of study and research in subjects applicable to a career in formation evaluation or related disciplines.
Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students to offset expenses including tuition, books, supplies, housing, meals, and sundry expenses incurred by students by awarding scholarship funds.

Eligibility

The international activities of the SPWLA permit and encourage the submittal of applications by qualified candidates attending or affiliated with colleges or universities either in the U.S. or abroad.
