Spokane Collaborative - Policy Advocacy Funding Opportunity

Amount: $65,000 total available

  • Individual cap: $15,000 per organization

  • Joint applications can request more

  • Applications may be fully funded, partially funded, or denied
  • Background:
    In October 2019, the BHT Board allocated $500,000 for equity projects decided upon by Spokane Collaborative members. The Collaborative divided efforts into three focus areas with dedicated funding:

  • Reducing Family Violence & Trauma: $104,000

  • Improving Access to Affordable Housing: $116,000

  • Improving Access to Behavioral Health Services: $136,000

  • Holdback fund: $144,000 (for emerging needs)
  • After recognizing need for policy work to impact inequities, the Collaborative Connections Team (CCT) allocated $65,000 from the holdback fund for flexible policy-related equity efforts.

    Purpose:
    Provide flexible funding for policy-related equity efforts with a clear, nimble process for Collaborative member organizations to request funds. Recognizes that policy issues often move faster than collaborative deliberation.

    Eligible Focus Areas:

  • Reducing Family Violence & Trauma

  • Improving Access to Affordable Housing

  • Improving Access to Behavioral Health Services

  • Oral Health Equity (as of 2021)

  • Other equity-related policy issues aligned with Collaborative priorities
  • Eligibility:

  • Open to Spokane Collaborative member organizations with current-year MOU (Memorandum of Understanding)

  • Also open to: Community organizations not currently members who agree to participate in the Collaborative going forward

  • Must have signed 2021 MOU

  • Family violence and trauma reduction

  • Affordable housing access

  • Behavioral health services access
