Overview

Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) Outreach and Training Services Grant (TX) The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), the System Agency, is accepting applications for the STAP Outreach and Training Services program to establish contracts with organizations to provide Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) Outreach and Training services statewide or in HHSC region(s). STAP is a voucher program for Texas residents with disabilities, that allows these residents to purchase specialized telecommunications devices and services for access to the telephone networks. These individuals will receive outreach and information about the STAP program, assessment of their telephone access needs, demonstration of available equipment and services, assistance with completing the STAP application, guidance in purchasing telephone equipment and services, and support in completing setup of equipment or services. The program also seeks to increase access for these individuals to Certifiers and vendors, ensure service to a wide range of persons with disabilities, and broaden the program reach to underserved areas in Texas. Certifiers of disabilities will receive outreach about the STAP program and training/technical assistance about certifier eligibility requirements, duties, and responsibilities. Funding The total amount of state funding available for the STAP Outreach and Training Services grant program is $1,700,000.00 for the entire Project Period.
