Special Interest Grants: Mental Health Research - Benjamin R. Brown and Charles G. Brown Funds

The Hampton Roads Community Foundation offers the Benjamin R. Brown and Charles G. Brown Funds to support mental health research organizations. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for residents in South Hampton Roads, Virginia. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving this region. However, organizations that have received funding within the last three years or do not meet specific criteria are ineligible. The foundation seeks to inspire philanthropy and advance mental health initiatives.

Brown and Charles G. Brown funds support organizations conducting mental health research to help people lead better lives.

Eligibility

The Hampton Roads Community Foundation welcomes grant applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving residents of South Hampton Roads, Virginia including:ChesapeakeEastern Shore of Virginia- Grants to Eastern Shore nonprofits are awarded in partnership with our affiliated Eastern Shore of Virginia Community FoundationFranklinIsle of Wight CountyNorfolkPortsmouthSuffolkVirginia BeachVirginia Peninsula organizations may be eligible to apply.

Ineligibility

If your organization has received a Hampton Roads Community Foundation grant in the past three years, it is NOT eligible to apply for funding for the same type of grant. Please also note that grants are generally not available for:Organizations NOT tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue CodeIndividualsFundraising events (such as tickets, raffles, auctions or tournaments), annual fundraising appeals or agency celebrationsOngoing operating supportCapital projects and facilities and equipment upgrades that can be considered routine maintenance or replacements.Houses of worship unless applying for the Nightingale Fund for Faith Community Nursing or the E.K.
