South Georgia Legacy Fund Grant

The South Georgia Legacy Fund Grant, offered by the Community Foundation of South Georgia, aims to empower local nonprofits addressing community needs. Annually, it allocates $30,000 across grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. The fund prioritizes proposals that demonstrate a solid operational plan, community support, and leadership commitment. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities based in the service area, excluding initiatives reliant on ongoing financial support from the Foundation.

The Community Foundation of South Georgia believes in the importance of strengthening local nonprofits and that a vibrant community is one with strong nonprofits doing great work to address the community’s most pressing needs. The South Georgia Legacy Fund was created with this in mind and works to support nonprofits in our area. Since inception, the fund has granted a total of $160,000 to 60 organizations in South Georgia. An overall total of $30,000 will be awarded annually with grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
Proposals from organizations with a well-planned approach to issues and needs, a demonstrated base of support, committed leadership, and the involvement of individuals with the skills necessary to carry out the work.
Organizations that can demonstrate they have planned their projects within their general operating budget in light of overall community need or have identified opportunities to build their organization’s capacity for future success and sustainability, demonstrated a base of support, committed leadership, and the involvement of individuals with the skills necessary to carry out the work.
Funding Priority
We look for proposals from organizations with a well-planned approach to issues and needs, a demonstrated base of support, committed leadership, and the involvement of individuals with the skills necessary to carry out the work. We are interested in those organizations that can demonstrate they have planned their projects within their general operating budget in light of overall community need and that similar projects by other organizations do not duplicate the proposed services.
The grants are available to support an organization’s ongoing administrative and infrastructure costs and/or to maintain existing, effective programs of the organization.

Eligibility

Applicants must be organizations classified as tax-exempt under 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code or a 501(c)3 equivalent and have their primary office and/or services located in CFSGA’s service area. A full listing of the counties we serve can be found on our Home page under the Georgia map.

Ineligibility
