Overview

The Society of the Order of the Southern Cross (the “Order”) is an IRS §501(c)(3) tax-exempt membership organization operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The Order supports worthy Confederate heritage projects, consistent with the Order’s tax-exempt status. Projects funded by the Order of the Southern Cross are typically related directly to the preservation and/or restoration of Southern Heritage artifacts, physical structures and locations. Examples include military and personal artifacts and letters, permanent structures and locations such as homes, monuments, cemeteries, battlefields, historical/interpretative signs, etc. The goal of the Order of the Southern Cross’s Grant Program is to help organizations to complete their projects. Therefore, we typically require organizations to have collected 50% of the required funds for project completion prior to our providing funds. This is not all inclusive and exceptions are made, so if you feel that your project should be considered even though the funding levels defined in this section have not been met, please contact the Grants Chairman to discuss prior to submitting an application.
