Overview

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, and a related organization of the American Society of Anesthesiologists®. For over 35 years, FAER has been dedicated to developing the next generation of physician-investigators. SOAP-FAER Mentored Research Training Grant Mentored Research Training Grants (MRTG) are intended for early career anesthesiologists interested in pursuing careers as physician-investigators and can be an important starting point. MRTGs help anesthesiologists develop the skills, preliminary data for subsequent grant applications and research publications needed to become independent investigators. The MRTG is a two-year, $300,000 primary investigator award (no co-investigators) that provides funding to faculty members who have completed their core anesthesiology training within the past 10 years.* Year one is funded at $150,000, and year two is funded at $150,000. The MRTG requires between 60-75 percent protected nonclinical time for research.
