The Dakota Value of Sharing Types of Funding Available Non-Cash Donations Non-cash donations include items such as AEDs, silent auction packages and in-kind items. All organizations can apply for this category Donations (other organizations may call it a mini grant or grant) Monetary Funding but on the smaller scale, such as Sponsorships, Project Specific items, not capital projects. Funding is awarded to an organization in one payment. All organizations can apply for this category. Grants Monetary Funding for larger projects, such as capital projects, economic construction projects, etc. Funding released on a payment schedule over several months to a couple years Only Tribal Governments, Native American Organizations, and Native American Serving Schools may apply. Each organization is eligible to submit only one (1) request for monetary and one non-cash per fiscal year (oct-sept). The system will not allow you to resubmit once your application has been awarded or denied. Ineligibility

The following are examples of requests that the SMSC will not consider funding:Requests needed within 30 days. Review Process can take anywhere from 30 Days up to 6 months. Requests submitted by Parent Volunteers; Request must be submitted by someone in the organization Second- or Third-party funding and/or funding for redistribution to other organizations Individual or Personal requests for any purpose (e.g. scholarships, hardship assistance, field trips, beauty pageants) Racing, Rodeo, Adult sports team sponsorships Music festival, Film productions or other entertainment venue sponsorships People to People Ambassador Sponsorships Foreign travel, or any other individual sponsorships Start-up costs, Investments, Small business grants Fundraising through the sale of advertisements Requests to fund the majority or total cost of a project. Diversification of funding is required for a request Stipends, Salary/Hourly Pay, Administrative and Benefits costs (Any pay that would directly go to a person) Rent, Utilities, Internet and Phone Services Travel Expenses, Hotel, Gas/Mileage Requests Operating, Overhead Costs Feasibility, Consulting or Contractual fees Alcohol related events (ie. Wine Tasting Fundraiser) Political Groups or Organizations Religious Groups or Organizations, Missionary Trips Finders' fees
