SIR/RFS Clinical Advancement Award

Award Type: Recognition award for residents

Geographic Scope: US and Canada

Purpose

Seeks to acknowledge one outstanding resident annually who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to expanding their clinical advancement during the early postgraduate years.

    Award Benefits

  • Recognition within the SIR membership (including APDIR and RFS)
  • Plaque or trophy presented during the resident dedicated programming at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Recipients do not have to be present to receive the award
  • SIR does not provide financial assistance to the awardee

    Eligibility

  • Must be a current SIR member-in-training in an accredited interventional radiology residency program in the US or Canada
  • Must be a current trainee at PGY-2, PGY-3, or PGY-4 level
  • Nominees must have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to expanding clinical advancement during early postgraduate years
  • Positive contribution to the field of interventional radiology
  • Nominations are for clinical skills only (technical or other nonclinical skills will not be considered)

How to Apply

Nomination Process

1. Nominator Eligibility: Trainees can be nominated by any individual, including a peer, attending, or program director. Residents may not self-nominate; however, information can be shared with a peer, attending, or program director to nominate them.

2. Nomination Deadline: Nominations are accepted through December 31, closing at 11:59 p.m. ET

3. Required Materials:
- Nomination describing the nominee's qualifications for the award
- At least one example of the nominee's commitment to expanding clinical advancement
- Supporting documentation (nominators should speak to clinical advancement examples)

4. Submission: Nominations should be submitted by the deadline (December 31)

5. Award Presentation: The recipient will be presented with the award during the dedicated resident program at the Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipient does not have to be present to receive the award.
