The ScotiaRISE initiative by Scotiabank aims to foster economic resilience among disadvantaged groups over ten years, with a budget of $500 million. By focusing on enhancing educational opportunities, facilitating employment for newcomers, and removing barriers to career advancement, ScotiaRISE seeks to create a more inclusive society. This program highlights the importance of collective efforts in supporting individuals and communities to thrive, ensuring everyone has the chance to rise above challenges and contribute positively to their environments.

Life can be unpredictable. Building economic resilience is about helping individuals, households, communities and economies to thrive under a range of circumstances.
But resilience doesn’t just happen – it has to be nurtured and invested in over time. ScotiaRISE is our 10-year, $500 million initiative to promote economic resilience among disadvantaged groups. And for every future.
Our focus areas
ScotiaRISE will invest in three focus areas across the geographies where Scotiabank operates:
Increasing high school graduation and post-secondary participationHelping disadvantaged youth to increase their employment prospects, life opportunities and full participation in the economy.
Helping newcomers feel at home fasterFast-tracking the way to meaningful employment in order to support their contribution to the prosperity and social fabric of their communities.
Removing barriers to career advancement for disadvantaged groupsHelping to enable their full inclusion and financial success.

Eligibility

Organizations that are either registered charities or non-profit organizations in their jurisdictions
Organizations that operate in countries where Scotiabank does business

Ineligibility

Individuals and/or individual pursuits
Service/Private clubs and organizations (unless it is a Registered Charity, and the program is open to everyone)
Sports teams (unless funding is pursuant to a Scotiabank local support program)
Religious organizations unless the program being funded:

• is open to all, regardless of faith, race, or sexual orientation
• will not incorporate religious teachings or participation in religious services/rites
• Political organizations, including political parties, campaigns, advocacy or lobby groups
• Private foundations and corporate foundations
• Private schools (private, charter or independent, fee-based schools), and public pre-schools, elementary or secondary schools

Individual member agencies of federated appeals (e.g. United Way) unless not otherwise supported by Scotiabank’s annual fundraising campaign or corporate commitment
Charitable Organizations with which Scotiabank is already in a pledge position
