Overview

Scioto 365 Grant

Overview: A dynamic community leadership initiative of the Scioto Foundation designed to encourage widespread participation in community and economic development for the improvement of the Scioto County area.

Geographic Scope: Scioto County, Ohio area

Focus Areas: Community and economic development with varying annual themes. Past themes include:

  • 2021: "Coping After COVID, Collaborating for Change" - Programs for residents impacted by COVID-19, with special focus on at-risk children and families and first responders (mental health or physical needs)

  • 2018: "Pride of Place" - Place-making and vibrant, healthy and safe neighborhoods
  • Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be either a 501(c)(3) or a local government entity based in the Scioto County area

  • Children and youth are defined as ages 21 and under
  • Preferences (when applicable):

  • Projects that plan to impact as many children and families as possible

  • Collaboration or partnerships between multiple organizations

  • Measurable results and long-term outcomes/impact
  • Funding Structure:

  • Members contribute $365 per year (or $3,650 one-time for lifetime membership)

  • 50% of funds raised go to grants; 50% goes to endowment

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Obtain Application: Standard Scioto Foundation Grant Application (available at http://www.sciotofoundation.org starting May 1)

    2. Submit Documents: Two completed copies of the proposal must be submitted by 5:00 PM on September 15 to:
    - Scioto Foundation office
    - 303 Chillicothe Street, P.O. Box 911, Portsmouth, OH 45662

    3. Required Components:
    - Narrative: Description of the project, how it will be accomplished, and how it will impact the community
    - Timeline: Detailed schedule of events with both start and expected finish dates
    - Budget: Complete budget showing:
    - All revenues and expenses
    - Amount of funding needed
    - Amounts from other funding sources (if applicable)
    - Demonstration of how funds will be spent during project completion

    4. Voting Process: All Scioto 365 members receive a ballot via email in September to vote for their favored proposals

    5. Award Notification: Notification of awards by November 15

    6. Grant Agreement: Awardees receive and must complete a standard Scioto Foundation Grant Agreement

    7. Final Report: Recipients must submit a final report evaluation form after project completion (within one year of award)
