Overview
The College Club of Cleveland Foundation
Founded in 1898, the College Club of Cleveland aims to promote the social, philanthropic and literary interest of Cleveland’s college-educated women. As early as 1898 the members collected donations for women seeking higher education. The Augusta Mittleberger Scholarship was established in 1924, to be followed in 1998 by the Sally Hirsh Scholarship, and in 2016 the Charlene Phelps Scholarship.
The College Club of Cleveland Foundation (CCCF) has awarded over 150 scholarships since 1990. Although in the Club’s early years only the education of women was promoted, the present-day Club admits both men and women and the Foundation now awards scholarships to both undergraduate male and female students.
The College Club of Cleveland Foundation has partnered with College Now of Greater Cleveland to collect, analyze, and make recommendations for scholarship considerations to the CCCF scholarship board as well as to handle all administration of scholarship awards.
Scholarships for Non-Traditional Students
In addition, The College Club of Cleveland Foundation offers non-traditional scholarships to male and female Adult Learners from across Northeast Ohio who have interrupted their education for at least one year or more. Adult Learners must be Pell-eligible, pursuing a first bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree, or a non-degree certificate or license in a vocational or technical program, and meet additional eligibility requirements. The scholarship is for tuition only and is renewable for a total of four years or until recipient completes first bachelor’s degree program, whichever occurs first, given that students maintain minimum requirements and funding remains available.
Funding
If selected, the scholarship can be renewed for up to four (4) years or eight (8) semesters, or until recipient completes their bachelor's degree program, whichever occurs first. The award amount is $5,000 per academic year and will be split between the fall and spring semesters. Please note that this amount is based on the assumption that students will be enrolled at least part-time (6 or more credit hours).
