Scholarships for Kids - K-12 Tuition Scholarships

Organization: Scholarships for Kids, Inc. - A nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving as a state-approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) under the Alabama Accountability Act of 2013.

Geographic Scope: Alabama (statewide)

Provide tuition assistance to K-12 students from lower-income families

Students must apply for admission to one of the participating nonpublic schools

Funded through tax credits from donors redirecting Alabama state tax liability

Statewide annual limit: $40 million

Credits awarded on first-come, first-served basis

Credits may be carried forward for three years

For Students (First-Time Applicants):

1. Step 1: Apply for admission to one of the participating nonpublic schools
2. Step 2: Obtain completed scholarship application from the school
3. Step 3: Submit application to the participating school
4. Step 4: School submits the application to Scholarships for Kids portal by the deadline
5. Step 5: School contacts parent/guardian regarding applicant's status
