Scholarships for Kids - K-12 Tuition Scholarships

Organization: Scholarships for Kids, Inc. - A nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving as a state-approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) under the Alabama Accountability Act of 2013.

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    For Students (First-Time Applicants):

    1. Step 1: Apply for admission to one of the participating nonpublic schools
    2. Step 2: Obtain completed scholarship application from the school
    3. Step 3: Submit application to the participating school
    4. Step 4: School submits the application to Scholarships for Kids portal by the deadline
    5. Step 5: School contacts parent/guardian regarding applicant's status

    Application Groups & Deadlines:

    • Group A - Renewal Applicants (Last income check 25/26 or first award 25/26)
    • - Parent Submission Deadline: March 30, 2026
    • Group B - Renewal Applicants (Last income check 24/25 – Due for income check)
    • - Parent Submission Deadline: April 29, 2026
    • Group C - Initial Applicants (First-Time Applicants)
    • - Parent Submission Deadline: May 29, 2026
    • IEP/504 Plan Eligible
    • - Parent Submission Deadline: May 29, 2026

    Requirements:

  • Applications must be correct and complete at time of submission

  • Students transferring between schools must submit to the school they plan to attend for the upcoming academic year

  • Check priority schools list before indicating on application (status varies by district)
  • College Scholarships (Empowered Forward Program):

    For high school seniors who have received a Scholarships for Kids scholarship for at least two academic years:

    • Essay Requirement: 700-word typed essay
    • Deadline: May 31, 2026
    • Required Materials:
    • - Completed form with: - Applicant name - School currently attending - Parent/guardian email and phone - School attending in fall - Expected field of study - Upload Empowered Leadership Class Essay (PDF/document) - Upload Senior Portrait (image file)
