Say Yes Buffalo Choice Grant

Program Type: Grant for higher-income families attending private colleges

Geographic Scope: Buffalo, NY and Niagara Falls, NY

Eligibility Requirements

Income: Family annual income more than $75,000
College Type: Attending a Say Yes Private Compact College
Enrollment: Full-time undergraduate enrollment
Base Eligibility: Must meet Say Yes Buffalo scholarship eligibility requirements (continuous enrollment in Buffalo public/charter school from 9th grade)

Award Details

Amount: Up to $5,000 per year
Award Calculation: Determined by difference between financial aid and cost of full-time tuition
Cap: Choice Grants combined with state, federal, and institutional grants/scholarships cannot exceed cost of full-time undergraduate tuition

Academic Requirements

Maintain satisfactory academic standing with college
Successfully complete minimum 12 credit hours per semester
Maintain GPA of 2.0 or better each semester

How to Apply

1. Base Application: Complete Say Yes Buffalo Tuition Scholarship application process (see separate entry)

2. Additional Steps:
- Complete New York State financial aid application (TAP)
- Complete Federal financial aid application (FAFSA)
- Apply to and be admitted to a Say Yes Private Compact College
- Notify Say Yes of college choice through scholarship account

3. Income Verification: Provide family income documentation (typically through FAFSA)
