Sammy was a 1996 Jamestown High School graduate and class president who played soccer starting at age four. He earned Division 1 Most Valuable Player honors and served as Team Captain. He received a soccer scholarship and pursued sports management at SUNY Oneonta and University of South Carolina. Sammy was known for his infectious smile, remarkable ability to bring joy to others, and being the quintessential team player. After college, he continued playing in adult leagues.
