Purpose

The Safe Escape grant provides direct financial assistance to domestic violence survivors to help cover the cost of boarding their pets while they are staying in shelter, removing the barrier of pet care costs that may prevent survivors from leaving abusive situations.

Post-Award Follow-Up

  • Client testimonial about impact of pet boarding assistance
  • Whether client stayed in violent environment due to pet concerns
  • Ability to relocate with pet after leaving shelter
  • Pet relocation plans if unable to stay together
  • Optional: photos of pets (with anonymity protections)

• Outcome information regarding family reunification with pets
