The Voice of Romance Writers Romance Writers of America® (RWA) is a nonprofit trade association whose mission is to advance the professional and common business interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy and by increasing public awareness of the romance genre. RWA works to support the efforts of its members to earn a living, to make a full-time career out of writing romance—or a part-time one that generously supplements their main income. RWA is committed to providing all of its members with an environment free from discrimination and harassment. Perseverance Fund Romance Writers of America administers the Perseverance Fund, which is primarily member-supported, to assist qualified applicants in financial need with their yearly national dues. Eligibility

All applicants shall submit a signed request to the Office that contains affirmation of the applicant's financial need.Per RWA policy, all nonmember applicants for the Perseverance Fund must provide proof that they are seriously pursuing a career in romance writing in order to qualify.Either of the following serve as proof:One complete original work of romance fiction of at least 20,000 words.Multiple complete original works of romance fiction which combine for a total of at least 20,000 words.In support of the above, applicants for the Perseverance Fund can provide one of the following on the application form:ISBN(s), ASIN(s), or Other Unique Vendor Product Identification Number(s) of Commercially Available* work(s)A digital copy of a work/works meeting these requirements.Romance Fiction or Romance means the work contains a central love story and the resolution of the romance is emotionally satisfying and optimistic. RWA staff reserves the right to challenge or contest whether a book qualifies as a Romance Fiction under Section 1.35 of the Policy and Procedures Manual.

Ineligibility

No individual may use the fund more than three times in total.Applicant must not have paid current dues invoice (if a current member).
