Program Name: Growing Rural Futures: Advancing Health and Workforce in Western Maryland

Grant Period: August 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026

Geographic Scope: Western Maryland (rural areas)

Focus Areas:

• Health professions workforce development
• Dental clinic expansion
• Medical Laboratory Technician Program

Funded Activities:

• Dental Clinic: Renovation and expansion of facilities and equipment purchases
  • Expected completion: Spring 2026
• Medical Laboratory Technician Program: Equipment purchases

Expected Outcomes:

• Train 127 students
• Serve 900 individuals through community dental clinic
• Graduate 95 students using grant-funded equipment

About RMPIF: The objective is to help raise the overall standard of living in rural areas to meet or exceed statewide benchmark averages by 2030, while preserving cultural heritage and rural way of life. The fund supports operating activities of the Rural Maryland Council and administers the Maryland Agricultural Education and Rural Development Assistance Fund. The grant program makes strategic investments in key economic and community development initiatives while fostering regional and intergovernmental collaboration.
