Program Description Minnesota Statutes, Section 144.148 authorizes the Commissioner of Health to award grants to eligible rural hospitals for modernization projects to update, remodel or replace aging hospital facilities and equipment necessary to maintain the operations of a hospital. Health Equity Priorities This program awards grants to eligible rural hospitals for modernization projects to update, remodel or replace aging hospital facilities and equipment necessary to maintain the operations of a hospital. This grant will serve non-federal, general acute care hospitals in Minnesota that: Are located in a rural area, as defined in federal Medicare regulations, or in a community with a population of less than 15,000 according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, outside the seven-county metropolitan area,Have 50 or fewer beds, and Are not for profit Grant outcomes will include: Hospitals will update, remodel, or replace aging facilities and equipment necessary to maintain operations.Access to hospital services will be preserved and improved for rural Minnesota communities.
