Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Program Type: AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer opportunity

Overview: The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) matches retired men and women, 55 years and older, with volunteer opportunities in their communities based on their personal preferences and talents. Volunteers work to lessen the possibilities of economic and health challenges for other retired seniors, veterans, or homebound individuals in their community.

  • Personal preferences and interests are considered for volunteering placement to ensure volunteers enjoy their time giving back
  • Flexible volunteer opportunities available throughout the community

Geographic Scope

Serves Lewis & Clark, Broadwater, and Jefferson counties

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Age 55 or older
  • Retired status preferred (though not strictly required)
  • Must be able and willing to volunteer

    Sites served by RSVP volunteers include:
  • Helena Food Share, Inc.
  • Augusta Food Share
  • Rocky Meals on Wheels
  • Rocky Senior Center Services
  • Rocky Go-Getters (medical transportation)
  • St. Peter's Gift Shop

RSVP Go-Getters Program (Sub-Program)

Status: Currently at capacity - not accepting new clients

Service Description: Free medical transportation service for older adults who no longer drive, provided by volunteers using personal vehicles

Scheduling Information:

  • Ride requests must be called in by 1:00 pm on the Wednesday prior to appointments

  • Schedule made one week in advance; cannot accommodate same-week rides

  • Notified on Friday if request cannot be filled

  • Appointments must be scheduled for weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm

  • All rides dependent upon driver availability
