Overview

Our Mission The Society of Family Planning is the source for abortion and contraception science. Our Vision We believe in just and equitable abortion and contraception informed by science. Researching the implementation of over-the-counter oral contraceptives Purpose The FDA’s landmark approval of Opill, the first over-the-counter daily oral contraceptive in the US, represents an unprecedented opportunity to significantly expand contraceptive access. To realize this potential, key partners—including advocates, payers, pharmacy benefit managers, policymakers, pharmacy systems, scholars, and state agencies—are actively working to address critical implementation issues, such as cost, distribution, and education. To accelerate learning and generate evidence that directly informs these efforts, the Society of Family Planning is offering the Researching the implementation of over-thecounter oral contraception funding opportunity. This opportunity seeks to fund research projects that produce actionable, evidence-based insights to guide implementation efforts related to over-the-counter daily oral contraceptives and advance equitable contraceptive access.
