Research Scholarships Grant

The American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) offers research scholarships to support graduate students in scientific diving. Two $3000 scholarships are available for one Master's and one Ph.D. student engaged in research utilizing diving as a key tool. Additionally, two $1500 scholarships may be awarded to the next highest-ranked proposals. To qualify, applicants must be current AAUS members and enrolled in a relevant academic program.

The Foundation
The Foundation was organized for the support and promotion of the AAUS by furthering the Academy's mission of facilitating the development of safe and productive scientific divers through education, research and the advancement of standards for scientific diving practices, certifications and operations.
The American Academy of Underwater Sciences awards two $3000 research scholarships to graduate students, one Master program student and one Ph.D. candidate, engaged in, or planning to begin, a research project in which diving is or will be used as a principal research tool or study scientific diving.
The AAUS may also award two additional $1500 scholarships to the next two proposals that are ranked the highest. If the additional scholarships are awarded, they may be split between the Master program and the Ph.D. program, or they may be both awarded within a single program.

Eligibility

To apply for a Research Scholarship Applicant Must:Be a current member of AAUS (student or full member).Be accepted and enrolled in a Masters program (for the Masters Program award) or a Ph.D. program (for the Ph.D. program award).

Ineligibility

Please note that persons are not eligible to compete for more than one AAUS scholarship per year, excluding the Kevin Flanagan Travel Award.
