Research Fellowships

Overview: Special awards to scholars to support research in any field of the humanities. These are competitive fellowships awarded annually by the Idaho Humanities Council.

Geographic Scope: Open to scholars researching topics relevant to Idaho and the humanities

Focus Areas:

  • Philosophy

  • Art history

  • Archaeology

  • All humanities disciplines
  • Award Details:

  • Amount: $3,500 per fellowship

  • Number of Awards: Up to 4 Research Fellowships awarded each fall

  • Eligible Uses: Funding may support expenses related to research, including travel to special archives, lodging, and related expenses
  • Award History (Fall 2022):

  • 2 Research Fellowships awarded totaling $7,000

  • Projects included: research on Arte Povera in 1960s-70s Italy; research on nuclear history of Idaho (Nuclear Idaho book project)
  • Funding Support: Supported in part by funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities

    - IHC staff review and provide recommendations
    2. Final Application Due: September 15
    - Decisions emailed in early November
