Funder: U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration (DOLETA), managed by Institute of Educational Leadership (IEL)

Geographic Scope: National (five sites total)

Award Duration: Three years

Target Population:

• Young adults ages 18-24
• Individuals involved in juvenile justice system
• Individuals involved in adult criminal justice system

Focus Areas:

• Breaking the cycle of recidivism
• Transition from justice system to employment
• Methods to maximize participants' inclusion and integration into society
• Employment opportunities
• Family support
• Economic and social self-sufficiency
• School-to-prison pipeline prevention
• Evidence-based programming for re-integration from incarceration

Program Goals:

• Provide positive opportunities for employment or education
• Help participants become productive, responsible, and law-abiding members of society
• Maintain long-term employment
• Establish stable residence

IEL has championed leadership across boundaries to address needs of young people and families for half a century. The program is based on Right Turn model and IEL's Ready to Achieve youth career-focused mentoring model.
