Recoverable Translational Research Grants

Purpose: Multiyear grants designed to catalyze promising laboratory cancer research and support the translational research phase—the segue between basic and applied research where laboratory findings are validated and viable candidates are put on the path toward human clinical trials and patient use.

Award Structure:

• Multiyear grants
• Recoverable grant model (repayment expected upon commercialization success)
• Nine grants awarded over two years (as of 2019)

Translational Research Focus:

• Often vastly under-resourced research phase
• Supports the continuum where cancer findings are validated
• Bridges gap to human clinical trials and patient use
• Focuses on viable therapeutic, diagnostic, and preventive candidates

Eligibility:

• Researchers with early-stage cancer projects
• Future competitions anticipated for Salisbury Award winners and other qualified candidates
• Faculty and non-faculty investigators
