Overview

About Us When willingness and opportunity converge, generosity emerges. ‍Mr. Robert A. Bowen, Sr. had such an opportunity in the late 1930’s. An acquaintance of his was paralyzed due to a swimming accident and “Bob” Bowen stepped in to support the man's care. Later, he was able and willing to give towards the man’s education. As Mr. Bowen saw the needs of others who wanted to go to college, he and a board of Trustees established the R. A. Bowen Trust in 1943. Its purpose is to award scholarships to deserving students. Now, four generations later, the Trust is still managed by the Bowen family. Bob Bowen was a builder and construction contractor in Macon, GA. His son, R. A. Bowen Jr., joined him after serving in WWII and then completing his engineering degree. Macon has benefited from their success and generosity as the Trust continues to help and support many local nonprofits.
