Overview

The Proposition 13 – Water Recycling – Planning Grant offers ongoing funding to assist local agencies in planning water recycling projects. This initiative aims to enhance the use of treated municipal wastewater, thereby augmenting fresh water supplies across California. All community types, including disadvantaged and severely disadvantaged communities, are eligible for financial support. Eligible projects encompass various aspects of water recycling, such as treatment, storage, and groundwater recharge.

NOTE: The funding provided is available on an ongoing basis for expenditure until the deadline (period of performance) is reached.
The purpose of the funding is to provide technical and financial assistance to local agencies for the planning of water recycling projects that promote the beneficial use of treated municipal wastewater in order to augment fresh water supplies in California.
All community types are eligible for funding. This includes small and large communities, non-disadvantaged, disadvantaged, and severely disadvantaged communities.
Eligible Uses
Eligible projects include recycled water treatment; recycled water storage, distribution, and pumping; groundwater recharge; and indirect potable reuse.
Eligible Costs
All costs necessary to determine the feasibility of using recycled water and to select an alternative to offset or augment the use of fresh/potable water from state or local supplies may be eligible for the planning grant.
