Proposal Development Award Grant

The Proposal Development Award supports Michigan-based nonprofits by providing funding to hire grant writers for health-related grant applications. This initiative helps organizations apply for funding from various sources, including the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and local health grants. The award is designed for nonprofits lacking the capacity to develop proposals independently, ensuring they can compete for essential health funding.

Many nonprofits don’t have a grant writer on staff or the capacity to hire a contract grant writer to develop and submit health-related grants. This award provides help for nonprofits with funding to contract a grant writer to create and submit health-related grants. Grant recipient organizations use the funding to apply to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation, Michigan Health Endowment Fund, local community foundations, Health Resources and Services Administration, and other organizations.
Proposal requirements
We review grant applications for the following criteria:

• The relevance of the project to a health-related issue in MichiganThe chances of being awarded a grant by the specified funder

Eligibility

We welcome applications from Michigan-based, nonprofit community organizations. Award funds are restricted to proposal development costs, such as technical assistance, freelance proposal writers and related proposal development costs.

Ineligibility

Projects for Proposal Development Award grants are ineligible if:The proposal has already been completedThe applicant is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan employee or an immediate family member of an employee. Applicants who are employees of any BCBSM affiliate or who are immediate family members also are ineligible
