Pro-Life Silver ACE Wings Program

Program Name: Pro-Life without Apology, without Compromise, without Exception

Status: Active recognition program

Geographic Scope: Virginia State Council

Focus Areas: Recognition of Pro-Life engagement and activism

Background: The ACE Wings represent the loss of life to abortion. The "Precious Feet" on the ACE Wings are the size and shape of an unborn baby's feet at 10 weeks after conception. The wings remind of an aborted soul, now an angel in heaven. The name "ACE Wings" references that five kills designated a flying ace.

    Eligibility

  • Knights of Columbus members in good standing
  • Priests or deacons (nominated by councils)
  • Non-Knights in local community (councils may present once per year)
  • Wives of recipients (for inclusion with husbands)

    Requirements for Silver ACE Wings

    Must participate in minimum of 5 public Pro-Life events during the fraternal year:
  • Four of five events must relate to the unborn
  • Fifth event can relate to unborn or other Pro-Life areas

Qualifying Events (Unborn-Related):

  • Participate regularly in sidewalk counseling

  • Volunteer at pregnancy resource center

  • March in National March for Life (Washington, D.C.) or Virginia March for Life (Richmond) - counts as 2 events if serving as marshal

  • Participate in Silver Rose Program

  • Participate in Pro-Life Rosary Procession or pray outside abortion facilities

  • View the movie Unplanned

  • Participate in Pro-Life Mass

  • Participate in 40 Days for Life Campaign

  • Attend Pro-Life conference

  • Attend Pro-Life dinner

  • Make Pro-Life presentation to youth group

    • Qualifying Events (Other Pro-Life Areas):

  • Volunteer for Special Olympics

  • Provide entertainment or volunteer at nursing home, hospice, or veterans facility

  • Participate in Global Wheelchair Mission event

  • Participate or volunteer for Habitat for Humanity

    • Does NOT Count:

  • Private Pro-Life events (private Rosary, council meeting rosary, private Mass intention)

      • Award Details

    • Physical ACE Wings pin provided to recipient
    • $7.00 fee required for wives and non-Knight recipients (check to Virginia State Council, memo "ACE Wings")
    • Presented by District Deputy, State ACE Wings Coordinator, State Officer, or Grand Knight
    • Recipients encouraged to continue Pro-Life support, but State Council only presents one set per recipient
    • Replacement ACE Wings available (contact Pro-Life ACE Wings Coordinator) with $7.00 fee

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Application Form: Pro-Life Silver ACE Wings Recipient Application (fillable form)

    Required Information:

  • Recipient's Name

  • Recipient's Member Number

  • Recipient's Council Number

  • Five qualifying Pro-Life activities with dates from current fraternal year

  • Nominator's Name

  • Nominator's Email Address

  • Nominator's Title (Grand Knight, District Deputy, or Faithful Navigator)

  • Council Number

  • District Number (if applicable)

  • Assembly Number (if applicable)

  • Indication of spouse inclusion (Yes/No) with spouse name if applicable

  • Attestation that recipient meets requirements

    • Submission:

  • Complete application any time during fraternal year

  • Submit to State ACE Wings Coordinator

    • Processing:

  • Upon receipt, State ACE Wings Coordinator reviews application

  • If approved, ACE Wings sent to applicant's District Deputy (or another Knight as requested) for presentation

    • Special Provisions:

  • If nominating priest or deacon: indicate nomination in first event line instead of listing five events

  • If District Deputy or Faithful Navigator submits: can sign in place of Grand Knight and use recipient's council number

  • If nominating non-Knight from community: council can present once per year

    • Payment for Extras:

  • $7.00 check payable to Virginia State Council with "ACE Wings" memo line for:

    • - ACE Wings for wives
    - ACE Wings for non-Knights
    - Replacement ACE Wings
  • ACE Wings will not be sent until award approved and payment received
