PrEP Assistance Program

Funder: Circle Care Center (The World Health Clinicians Inc)

Overview: A program to help underinsured or uninsured patients access PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for HIV prevention. Launched in May 2023 with initial funding from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation ($50,000).

    What is Covered

    Qualified participants receive 12 months of:
  • Free lab work
  • Free PrEP prescription
  • Free provider expertise
  • 4 quarterly visits
  • 1 annual physical appointment
  • Lab work fees covered
  • Provider care

Note: After 12 months, there may be a low monthly cost to continue treatment.

Geographic Scope

Fairfield County, Connecticut (greater Norwalk area)

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: 18-50 years old
  • Insurance Status: Currently uninsured or underinsured
  • Income: Make less than 250% of the federal poverty limit
  • Risk Profile: Member of a group with elevated risk of HIV exposure, including:
  • - Men who have sex with men - Gay, bisexual, queer, and transgender people - Intravenous drug users - Women of color
  • No government-issued ID required (helpful to bring photo ID like passport)
  • Limited availability for those who qualify for free services

Patients who do not qualify for free services can still receive low-cost care.
