Overview

Each year the Archaeological Institute of America presents awards to our societies and their members in recognition of the important work they do to support the Institute and its mission. Our over 100 Local Societies are the backbone of the AIA and their work is irreplaceable. Winners of these awards and prizes are honored at the Annual Meeting. Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology The Pomerance Science Medal Committee invites nominations for the Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology. Areas of interest that nominators should highlight in their letter include, but are not limited to, impactful contributions to the field, significant archaeological questions addressed, interdisciplinary collaborations, global/multi regional impacts, and, if relevant, graduate students trained and public-facing scholarship.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Eligibility is not restricted to members of the AIA, and candidates for the medal may be sought internationally with no geographical limitations. The recipient may be a professional or amateur scientist, or a team, whose interdisciplinary work with archaeologists merits recognition. Persons who have received the Gold Medal of the AIA are not excluded from eligibility.
