Focus Areas: Pilot awards are intended to test new hypotheses or technologies that have the potential to significantly advance understanding and/or treatment of CCLA, GLA, GSD, or KLA. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Genetic analysis

  • Biomarker identification

  • Preclinical model development and characterization

  • Imaging

  • Single-cell RNA sequencing of animal or patient samples
  • Eligibility: Assistant professor or higher rank

    Requirements: Preliminary data are required

    Funder Model: LMI employs a unique, interactive model with in-house scientific team coordination. All submitted materials remain confidential with no external advisors involved. The institute maintains close communication with applicants and grantees for brainstorming and shaping project ideas.

    - Submission: Email to grants@lmiresearch.org
    - Outcome: Invitations to submit full application will be sent by March 25, 2026 to select investigators

    2. Full Grant Application Stage
    - Deadline: May 29, 2026 by 11:59 PM CST
    - Submission: Email to michael.dellinger@utsouthwestern.edu
    - Notification: Applicants will be notified by August 28, 2026
    - Funding Start: October 1, 2026 (pending paperwork signature)
