PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship

Overview: The PGA of America's Financial Assistance Fund provides college scholarships to children and grandchildren of PGA members based on evidence of academic achievement during high school or college.

Program History: Established in 1986; has awarded over 4,500 scholarships totaling $9,997,500. For the 2024-26 school year, 185 students were awarded academic scholarships totaling $400,005.

Funding Source: All funding comes from contributions made by PGA Members.

School Year: 2026-2027

Geographic Scope

National (all PGA members in good standing)

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a PGA member in good standing with the association
  • The PGA member may be living or deceased
  • Children or grandchildren of Class "F" PGA members are NOT eligible
  • Applicant is eligible to apply for one scholarship per school year
  • The number of scholarships a student can earn per school year is not based on the number of PGA members they are related to, nor the involvement and achievement of the PGA member

Scholarship Limits

Maximum Two Scholarships:

  • The PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship is for the first four years only

  • A student can receive one scholarship per school year

  • Maximum limit of two scholarships for the first four college years

  • A student who has received two scholarships becomes ineligible to apply

  • Two is the absolute maximum number of scholarships a student can receive

    • June 2026: Notification of Selection Results
    • July 2026: Funds Disbursed

    Special Note for Southwest PGA Applicants

    All Southwest PGA applicants who qualify, whether they receive PGA of America funding or not, will be eligible to be considered for financial aid from the Southwest PGA Foundation.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Application Format: Online portal (access via link provided on announcement date)

    Application Availability: December 9, 2025

    Required Materials for Complete Application

    To be considered complete, the application must include:

    1. Completed application form (filled out completely)
    2. School transcript (uploaded to student's file)
    3. Student Aid Report (SAR) (uploaded if student chooses to be considered on need-based basis)
    - If SAR isn't uploaded, application is considered incomplete
    - If student does not choose need-based consideration, SAR is not required
    4. Electronic resume (optional but recommended)
    - Leaving resume blank will not make application incomplete
    - However, blank resume will bring down student's overall ranking
    - Resume counts as 20% of evaluation criteria

    High School Students:

  • 60% Cumulative GPA

  • 20% Resume

  • 20% Extracurricular Activities
  • Current College Students:

  • 60% Cumulative GPA
