Funder: Pleasantville Fund for Learning (NY, US)

Geographic Scope: Pleasantville School District

Eligible Applicants: Teachers and high school students

Mission: To encourage innovation, extend educational opportunities, and enhance educational programs in the school district

Program Overview

The Pleasantville Fund for Learning reviews grant applications from teachers and high school students on an annual basis. Applications are accepted twice per year, with the current cycle requesting applications by April 21, 2026, with plans to return to fall and spring deadlines in future years.

Evaluation Criteria

The PFFL Grants Committee evaluates applications based on:
• Available grant funds
• Cost-effectiveness ("bang-for-the-buck")
• Benefits to students
• Number of students affected
• Sustainability of grant
• Fit to curriculum
• Hands-on experience opportunities
• Innovation/newness of proposal
• Balance among schools, disciplines, and student body

Selection Process

Applications are reviewed in October and February (or February and April for current cycle). The Committee may meet with applicants and school administrators to refine requests and determine funding alternatives and importance to the district. Awards are announced in December and June.

Grant Requirements

• Applicants must detail the grant's purpose, scope, and which students will benefit
• Sustainability plan required
• Evaluation of success metrics required
• Identification of alternative funding sources (including School District budget) required
• Grant money can only be spent on what was proposed
• PFFL monitors spending and follows up on grant success
