Overview

The Petfinder Foundation disaster-relief program was designed to assist Petfinder members and their adoptable pets who have been struck by a natural disaster.  Funding from this program must support natural or human-made disasters that hit a community like hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, floods, earthquakes, extreme weather (freezing temps, significant snowstorms, extreme heat), and other events that devastate animal shelters and rescue groups.

Eligibility

Applicants are Petfinder members in good standing, actively posting adoptable pets on petfinder.com, and maintaining up-to-date listings.If awarded, applicants agree to create and share at least one post on your organization's Facebook page (more than one social media post is encouraged however, only one is required). The disaster that you name in your application must have occurred within 60 days prior to the date you submit your application. Hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, floods, earthquakes, extreme weather (freezing temperatures, significant snowstorms, extreme heat), and other events that devastate animal shelters and rescue groups. Petfinder members located in the US, Canada, and Mexico.Applicants who experience multiple disasters throughout the year can submit a funding request for each disaster event.Allowable Grant FundingHurricanes, tornadoes, fires, floods, and earthquakes. Extreme weather (freezing temperatures, significant snowstorms, extreme heat), and other events that devastate animal shelters and rescue groups.Examples of extreme weather include, but are not limited to:Brutal Winters: Warm Blankets, pet-friendly ice melts, dry draft-free shelter, ensure pets have access to fresh unfrozen water.Extreme Heat: Manage hot surfaces to prevent burns that may include shade, fans, pools, cool pads/cloths, and ample fresh cool water.Disaster funding must support expenses for pets that are part of your group or have been pulled from a partner group during disaster impact or disaster recovery needs. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member.
