Summary

The PERS Student Research Fund supports graduate students in estuarine sciences through grants of up to $250. Established in memory of Pete Eldridge, the fund now allows donations in honor of individuals. Eligible applicants are MS or PhD students, current PERS members, and those studying in the PERS region, which includes Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia. Award recipients are recognized at the annual PERS meeting.

Overview

The Student Research Fund was originally founded in memory of Pete Eldridge to support student research in the estuarine sciences. Recently with others expressing an interest in donating in memory of others we renamed the fund to student research fund and the individual awards will be presented in memory of the chosen person. Anyone can give a donation in memory/ in honor of an individual and at the time it is awarded the recipient will be receive their award in the name of that person. Grants are for up to $250.00 awarded at the annual meeting of PERS with a maximum of 3 awarded each year.  Note that Student Research funds are disbursed to the sponsoring institution not to the students directly. Applicants will need to contact the Office of Research (or equivalent) at their institution to approve the application and complete the grant administrator section.
