Peace & Recovery Initiative The Innovations for Poverty Action Peace & Recovery Initiative (PRI), funded by UK International Development, supports rigorous impact evaluations, pilots, exploratory studies, evidence use and policy outreach support, and infrastructure and public goods projects to inform policies and programs related to the prevention of, responses to, and recovery from most forms of social and political violence as well as humanitarian emergencies, including: International and civil warsState-supported violence and repression, from mass killings to police brutalityElectoral violenceRiots, protests, strikes, and other collective actionIntergroup violence, including ethnic and sectarian violenceTerrorism and violent extremism“Recovery” responses after conflict or crises, including natural disasters Supported projects will contribute to innovation and generalizable learning on program effectiveness, identify the mechanisms underpinning programming, and address potential barriers to impact. Priority areas of research include: Understanding and preventing individual-level participation in violenceUnderstanding, combating, and reintegrating armed groupsAddressing prejudice and building horizontal social cohesionStrengthening household and community resilienceBuilding institutions, resolving disputes, and delivering justiceAddressing root causes and preventing future crises Project Types & Funding Exploratory grants: Maximum award: $10,000Pilot studies: Maximum award: $75,000Full studies: Maximum award: $500,000Infrastructure and public goods creation: Maximum award: $250,000Evidence use and policy outreach support: Maximum award: $25,000 In recognition that research in some locations or with some populations is more costly, on a case-by-case basis we will consider budgets over the above award maximums that provide appropriate justification.Eligibility
