Purpose
The intent of this grant is to generate new information and formulate improved management strategies for residents of post-acute and long-term care facilities, specifically focused on Parkinson's Disease (PD). The grant aims to advance quality of life and care for residents with Parkinson's Disease through research addressing:Broader questions of interest may also include:
- Award Amount: Up to $40,000 (combined direct and indirect costs, with indirect limited to 7% of total)
- Funding Source: Acadia Pharmaceuticals provided funding to the Foundation for PALTC to support this grant
- Project Duration: Must be feasible to accomplish in 12 months
- Funding Timeline: Letter of Inquiry deadline April 13, 2026; Full proposals due July 13, 2026; Award notification estimated September 1, 2026
- Funding Decision: Grant Committee of the Foundation for PALTC will evaluate submissions and make funding decisions independent of Acadia Pharmaceuticals

- Objectives are specifically stated and measurable
- Methods (activities) are feasible within budget
- Applicant(s) has a high likelihood of success
Evaluation Criteria for Letters of Inquiry
- Significance: Does the work align with Foundation's vision of fulfilling unmet educational, training, and scientific innovation?
- Investigator Capabilities: Evidence of success in previous research activities, grant awards, and publication history; letters of support from collaborators
- Innovation: Does proposal reflect innovative thinking and solutions to identified unmet needs?
- Soundness of Approach: Sufficient evidence of sound methodology, knowledge of field, clear and measurable objectives, realistic and achievable goals
- Environment: Organizational capacity to fulfill project requirements and support investigators
- Budget: Clear definition of resources/equipment/tools; if salary support requested, clear delineation of roles; if partial funding of larger project, other funds secured
Evaluation Criteria for Full Research Proposals
- Activities of daily living outcomes for PD residents
- Psychosis management in residents with PD
- Age-friendly and deprescribing approaches
- Facility-based interventions to improve outcomes

Deadline: July 13, 2026 (approximately 3 months after LOI notification)

3. Background - 3,400 characters
4. Methods and Research Plan (including data analysis) - 3,400 characters

7. Key Personnel - 3,400 characters
8. Significance to the PALTC Mission - 1,700 characters
9. Budget Narrative - 1,700 characters
