Geographic Scope: Polk and Rutherford Counties, North Carolina

Overview:
PANGAEA Internet's installation grant program is designed to assist potential customers with installation costs for PANGAEA's fiber optic internet service. The program supports the organization's nonprofit mission to deliver affordable, reliable connectivity services for the region.

Eligible Applicants:

• Businesses and organizations in Polk and Rutherford Counties

Award Details:

• Maximum per customer: Up to $1,000
• Annual program cap: Up to $5,000 in grant funds per calendar year

Selection Criteria:
Grant applications are reviewed by a team comprised of PANGAEA board members. Funds will be awarded based on:

• Applicant's organization profile
• Existing internet service
• Demonstration of how PANGAEA service will positively impact the organization

Background:
As of 2013, PANGAEA Internet had achieved dramatic growth since 2003—expanding its fiber optic network to 120 miles spanning Polk and Rutherford Counties, receiving more than $2.5 million in public funding, and serving 42 customers at nearly 100 separate locations.

Review Process:

1. Applications are reviewed by a team comprised of PANGAEA board members
2. Awards are based on applicant's organization profile, existing internet service, and demonstration of positive impact from PANGAEA service
3. Funds awarded based on demonstrated need and organizational benefit
