Program Overview

The Oregon Outstanding Nurse Preceptor Awards is an annual recognition program celebrating exceptional nurse preceptors who demonstrate excellence in mentorship, leadership, and support. Now in its fourth year (as of 2024), this program honors nurses who play a vital role in strengthening Oregon's healthcare workforce.

1. Oregon Outstanding Nurse Preceptor Award
- Nominated by healthcare systems across the state
- Recognizes preceptors demonstrating excellence in:
- Mentorship
- Leadership
- Nursing staff support

2. Impact Award
- Peer-nominated honor
- Recognizes nurses who have made a profound difference in colleagues' careers

Purpose

Nurse preceptors are essential for:

Successful nursing transition for new graduates

Employee retention in healthcare organizations

Supporting experienced nurses transitioning to new specialties or facilities

Guiding new roles and environments adaptation

Building stronger, more resilient healthcare systems for Oregonians

Eligibility

• Eligible Nominees: Licensed nurses working in Oregon healthcare settings including:
- Hospitals (all types) - Clinics - Long-term care facilities - Home health services - Mental health services - School-based settings - Other healthcare facilities
• Nomination: Organizational leaders and healthcare systems nominate exceptional preceptors; peers can nominate for Impact Award

Recognition

• Celebration: Honorees celebrated during annual virtual awards ceremony
• Count (2024): 20 exceptional preceptors recognized
• Count (2023): 24 exceptional preceptors recognized
