The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) releases this Request for Grant Applications (RFGA) to award funding to organizations to increase community awareness of available services; increase availability of services; and provide new and expanded services for pregnant women and parents, or other relatives caring for children twelve (12) months of age or younger, on behalf of the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program. The Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program is designed to provide services to pregnant women and parents, or other relatives, caring for children twelve (12) months of age or younger by promoting childbirth, parenting, and alternatives to abortion; and while meeting one (1) or more of the four (4) purposes of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) grant as specified in 42 U.S.C. 601. These purposes include providing assistance to needy families so that children can be cared for in their own homes; reducing the dependency of needy parents by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage; preventing and reducing the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies; and encouraging the formation and maintenance of two-parent families. This grant opportunity is intended to award funding to private, not-for-profit entities. Although, the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program’s framework is outlined under ORC 5101.804, funding for this grant will be made available from State General Revenue Funds.
